Sharon Kay Zablocki, age 77, of Tecumseh, MI and formerly of Toledo, OH passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 22, 1944 in Toledo to Ronald and Jennie (Van Der Meulen) Whitmill. Sharon was a well-known radio personality, hosting the Sharon and Chet Polka Party with her husband Chet Zablocki beginning in 1973, and Sharon’s Polka Party after his passing in 2004 for a total of 48 of the show’s 75 years. Sharon was a vivacious and fun-loving woman who cherished family and community. She enjoyed word games, travel, bowling, playing poker and the slots, and she truly enjoyed her “Black Velvet”. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends, and all who grew up listening to her on Sunday mornings.
Sharon is survived by her twin sons, Ronald G. (Sheryl) and Donald W. (Miluska) Kusz; father, Ronald; grandchildren, Foster, Andrea, Gabriella, Justin, and Megan Kusz; sisters, Wanda Iamele, Melva Smith, Donna (Roger) Adams, Linda (Denny) Skiles, Ronalda Whitmill, and Vera Gregory. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jennie; husband, Chet; and sister, Trudy Perry.
Visitation will be Friday, April 29 from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. Funeral services will begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in Regina Coeli Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Erie Union Cemetery.
