Rose Marie Zawistowski, 89, of Toledo, passed away in her home on Thursday, January 5, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Toledo, OH on June 26, 1933 to Joseph and Philomena (Szymanski) Zdunczyk. Rose was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother and homemaker. Her home was always immaculate and her family well fed. She was an excellent cook and baker who was proud of her Polish heritage and loved preparing and sharing golumpki, duck soup, placek, and other Polish dishes with her loved ones. She enjoyed getting together with neighbors for a game of Bunko, and she loved dancing the Polka, especially with her beloved husband Edward.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Lee) Harley and Darlene (Mike) Oikle; sons, Kenneth (Diana) and Timothy (Judy) Zawistowski; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Gloria Rometski and Joyce Kuhrt; and sister-in-law, Joanne Zdunczyk. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Zawistowski; brothers, Joe and Frank Zdunczyk; brothers-in-law, Lee Kuhrt and Frank Rometski; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Zdunczyk.
Visitation will be Monday, January 9 from 2-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Clement’s Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
