Romaine R. “MeMe” Kowalski, age 84, of Toledo passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 1, 1936 in Toledo, OH to Stephen and Rose Piasecki. Romaine was employed as a sales associate at the downtown Lion Store, and as assistant manager for both the Northtowne Mall Montgomery Wards and the Greenwood Mall JoAnn Fabrics. She was also a longtime “Avon Lady”. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker, Romaine was devoted to her family. Sundays meant wonderful homecooked meals and time together. She volunteered as a Cub Scout den mother when her children were young, and camping was a favorite pastime. She and her husband Richard also loved to travel and were able to tour Europe in 1985-86. She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
Romaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Kowalski; sister, Loretta Narewski; and brother, Stephen Piasecki. She is survived by her children, Mark (Chris),
Peggy Ann, Bruce, and Dennis Kowalski; grandchildren, Bruce Kowalski and Zachary Morlock; step-granddaughter, Saffron; great-grandson, Kobe; and sister Theresa (Ken) Crossman.
Visitation will be Monday, June 28 from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with a rosary at 4 p.m. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Catherine Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
