Paul Thomas Sochacki, age 73, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania. He was born April 27, 1947 in Toledo, OH to Thaddeus and Eugenia (Matuszewski) Sochacki. Paul was a graduate of Macomber High School, Class of 1965. He began his employment career at the Canon Paper Company and went on to work in the printing department and machine repair at Libbey Glass, retiring at age 65 after 30 years of service. Paul was a US Coast Guard Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and Regina Coeli Catholic Church where he and his wife Mary were married on September 13, 1986.
Paul was a skilled and ambidextrous athlete. An avid lefthanded bowler who bowled at least four 300 games over the years, he was a skilled righthanded golfer who enjoyed playing on the Libbey Glass golf league. Paul loved gathering with family and friends, including his Libbey coworkers for their regular lunches at Tony Packo’s. He will be dearly missed.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers-in-law, David Stankey and Homer Brickey. Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Mary (Stankey) Sochacki; sister, Janice (Ralph) Bartnikowski; brothers-in-law, James (Leslie), Kurt (Debra), Dan (Patricia), and Phillip (Pam Miller) Stankey; and sisters-in-law, Suzanne Brickey, Lynne (Tom) Nowel, and Anne (Michael) Roman. Also surviving are 16 nieces and nephews, including special nephew and niece, Christopher (Sarah) Bartnikowski and Heather (Sean) Casier; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, January 4 from 2-6 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Deacon James Dudley presiding. The VFW 606 Burial Corps will conclude with Military Honors in Resurrection Cemetery.
