Juventino F. “JR” Lopez Jr., age 80, of Toledo passed away peacefully at home Monday, September 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 4, 1942 in Elmira, OH to Juventino and Juanita (Fonseca) Lopez Sr. JR was a graduate of Scott High. A hard worker throughout his life, his places of employment included City Auto Stamping, Toledo Terminal, L.O.F, the Rec Center, Willys Overland (Jeep), and CSX Railroad. He retired in 2005. He was a longtime active member of Latins United, having served as both president and vice president. A talented musician, he played drums with several area bands including John Luna and the Renegades, and Los Tequileros. Family and home always came first to JR. He was happy to help at the family restaurants, El Charro and Via Rosa. He cherished his family and friends, loved working in his yard, and was always the life of the party. He was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church.
JR is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lily (Pecina) Lopez (married July 24, 1960); daughters, Mary Ellen Sanchez, Christina (David) Gonzales, Joanne Garza, Lily Ann Lopez and Estrella Lopez; sons, David (Heidi), Juventino III (Jennifer), and Alfred (Crystal) Lopez, Ronald Ramos, Thomas, Jason, and Jose Lopez; and a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Mary Serna, Matilda “Millie” Cook, and Margaret “Maggie” Barret; and brother, John Lopez. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Randolph Sr. and Alejandro Lopez; sisters, Virginia Lopez, Linda Ramos, and Eloise Alvardo; brothers, Celestino Lopez, and Jessie Lopez Sr.; and grandchildren, Stefen Salo, Michael Lopez, and Serena Hernandez.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 11 from 3-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin Monday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Adalbert Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
