John Robert Klocinski

John R. Klocinski, age 70, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on May 11, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.   A proud graduate of St. Francis de Sales, John put himself through college working at Imperial and Showcase Lanes, Hydramatic, Modine Manufacturing, and St. Charles Hospital.  John went on to earn a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from The University of Toledo, along with an Education Specialist in Curriculum and Education, a Master of Education in Human Resource Development and Educational Technology, and a Bachelor of Business of Administration.   Affectionately known as “Dr. John” to students, friends and family alike, John served as Chair of the Business and Computer Systems Division at Lourdes College, Sylvania Ohio, from 1989 to 2004.  John also taught at The University of Toledo, local community colleges, and Capella University where he mentored doctoral students. He also designed training materials for numerous corporations and institutions.  An avid photographer, John could often be found photographing community and professional events, parish festivals, and concerts.  John was also a devoted animal lover and ardently cared for many pets and strays and supported numerous animal-related organizations.  He was also a proud member of the NRA, past President of the Isaac Walton Conservation Club, and taught gun safety at American Firearms Training Academy.  

John was preceded in death by his wife, Therese (Chandler) Klocinski, and his parents, Felix and Helen (Muszynski) Klocinski.  John is survived by his cousins, Melvin Klocinski and Donna (Klocinski) Hunt, who he considered his siblings, and many cousins, and human and furry friends.  Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donor’s choice.  A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Hyacinth Church on Wednesday, May 19 at 10:30 am followed by a gathering at Scott Park Banquet Room.
