Edward Petryk Jr. Obituary

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, Edward Adam Petryk, Jr. started his journey to be with his Lord and Savior.  He enjoyed the day with his two oldest grandsons before he passed.  He went to Caden’s graduation from high school and sat with Jacob during the ceremony.  He also cherished his youngest grandson, Dean, who would brighten his life by his baseball games with his dad.  He was born on June 23, 1950, to Edward and Helen (Banko) Petryk in Toledo, OH.

Ed attended Regina Coeli Catholic School and graduated from Roy C. Start High School in 1968.  He served in the United States Army from 1970-1972.

Ed married Patricia Ann Nietrzeba on August 4, 1972.  They had a loving marriage that lasted almost 50 years.  They were blessed with 2 loving children and a special son that came into his life after his retirement and three handsome grandsons.  Ed was very proud of all the accomplishments that his children and grandchildren achieved.

Ed worked at the Chrysler Toledo Machining Plant and a variety of jobs in the auto industry.  He was hired to work at Johnson Controls Battery Division in 1992 and worked there until 2015.  He was always willing to help others and he worked the Funeral Luncheon Program at Regina Coeli Church.

After he retired, he enjoyed attending classic car shows together with his wife.  Ed had a 1947 Chrysler Royal and his wife drove a 1983 Dodge Shelby Charger.  They called themselves the Cruising Grandparents.  He also enjoyed helping his wife with her crafting group.  The ladies of the group really treasured him because he would serve them coffee.

Ed is survived by his loving wife Patricia, daughter Michelle Ann (Christopher) Martin and son Edward Adam (Meghan Benz) Petryk III, “special son” Michael Larrow and three loving grandsons Caden Alexander Martin, Jacob Louis Martin, and Dean Benz Petryk.  He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Dennis) Holt and nieces and nephews Jacqueline Hansen, Kimberly Holt, Gregory Holt, Anthony Holt, Richard Nietrzeba, Kevin (Chris) Nietrzeba, Lora (John) Rombach, and many great nieces and great nephews.  Also surviving Ed are his special sister, Cathy Brown, and special brother, Dennis Hegedus.  Preceding him in death were his parents, sister, Carol Petryk, brother-in–law, Richard Nietrzeba, sister-in-law, Christine Nietrzeba, nephew, Steven Nietrzeba, and his aunts and uncles.
