Donald Ray Smithhisler

    Donald Ray Smithhisler, age 66, of Lambertville, MI and formerly of Toledo passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania. He was born on March 14, 1956 in Toledo, OH to Allen Joseph and Angeline Helen (Swiczkowski) Smithhisler. He was a 1974 graduate of Sylvania Northview High School. After obtaining his journeyman’s card, Donald was employed as a Tool & Die maker at Obars Machine & Tool Company, Independent Tool & Die, and Toledo Pressed Steel. He was a former parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania, OH.

    Donald was an avid fisherman and hunter. As a Charter Captain, he led fishing expeditions on Lake Erie from Meinke Marina. He also was a great cook and enjoyed smoking fish and meat at his home. A talented artist, he specialized in woodworking and laser-etching. More than anything, Donald cherished his family and was especially devoted to his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

    Donald is survived by his sisters, Janette (Jerry) Jenkins and Nancy Bowman; brother, Michael (Marilyn) Smithhisler; nephew and nieces, Michael Bowman, Jodi (Brian) Jenkins-Reitz, Carrie (Arthur) Whitaker, and Jessica (Eric) Parsil; and great-nephews and nieces, Donald Smithhisler, Christopher Smithhisler, Melissa Smithhisler, Alex Bowman, Katie Bowman, Jacob Parsil, Joshua Reitz, Lauren Parsil, and Jordyn Reitz. He was preceded in death by his parents.

    Visitation will be Friday, September 30 from 9-11 a.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with the funeral home service at 11 a.m. with Deacon Anthony Pistilli presiding. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sylvania.
