Donald Edward “Bud” Ravary, 91, of Erie, MI died peacefully at home on Saturday, June 26, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Don was known for his great kindness, and his devotion to God, his wife and three daughters. He was born October 7, 1929 in Erie, MI to Edward and Antoinette (Geiger) Ravary. Don attended Central Catholic High School (Toledo) and served his country during the Korean War as a Corporal in the US Army. He was employed as a sales associate for Goodyear Capitol Tire Co. on Cherry St. in Toledo for 39 years, retiring in 1991. Capital Tire was established by Don’s Uncle Ben Geiger (brother of Antoinette). Don was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie, MI, and through the years he served as an altar boy, usher, and member of the Parish Council. He also volunteered at countless church festivals in the country store booth, with his brother-in-law, Bill Miller. For 28 years Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Joseph Council 7413. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, and he was a loyal Detroit Tiger fan. He and his wife “Jeanie” loved to travel and took many trips together throughout the US and abroad. A daily exerciser for many years, Don still enjoyed relaxing at home and splitting a daily beer with his grand-dog, “Callie”.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Virginia “Ginny” O’Neill and Dolores Beutler. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia “Jeanie” (Micinski) Ravary; daughters, Carol (Vic) White, Julie Ravary, and Joyce Ravary; grandchildren, Ryan (Janey) White and Katelyn White; sister, Theresa Miller; brother-in-law, Donald Beutler; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 29 from 2-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Erie at 11 a.m. Interment with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
