David John Mierzwiak, age 85, of Temperance, MI and formerly of Southdale Rd. in Toledo, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania. He was born June 19, 1936 in Toledo, OH to Clement and Pearl (Slowinski) Mierzwiak. David graduated from Macomber High School and attended the University of Toledo. After completing his military service in the US Army, he was employed as a project engineer for Owens-Illinois, retiring from there at age 58. He also worked as a security guard for the Toledo Museum of Art for 7 years, and various other parttime positions. He was fiercely protective of his home and family and a proud recipient of the City of Toledo Hero’s Award. An avid fisherman, he loved vacationing at his family’s cottages on Silver Lake in Angola, IN and Middle Sand Lake in Hillsdale, MI. He was a jack-of-all-trades, an excellent bowler, and a big fan of the Detroit Tigers.

David is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marlene (Grycza) Mierzwiak (married October 25, 1958); children, Kathleen (John) Manrow, David (Kathleen) Mierzwiak, Gary (Sandy) Mierzwiak, and Mary Jo (Doug) Bushroe; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
