Daniel Edward Wasikowski, 95, of Toledo passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Rosary Care Center, Sylvania. He was born April 7, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to Valentine and Martha (Burzynski) Wasikowski. He attended St. Anthony Grade School and Libbey High School, where the day after he graduated he was drafted into the US Army. Dan proudly served with the 69th Infantry Division as a Staff Sergeant in Germany, France, and Belgium. After the war he worked as a USPS Mail Carrier and Postal Clerk for 36 years, retiring in 1988.
Dan was a longtime member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and the church’s Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the 55+ Club and a life member of American Legion Wroblewski Post 18.
Dan married Esther Muszynski in 1956. She survives along with sons, Paul and John; daughter-in-law, Jean; granddaughter, Rachael Wasikowski; step-grandchildren, Nick Hoppesch and Julie Hommowun; and nieces, Anne Marie Jenkins and Cheryl Sanders. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Clara; brother, Casimer; and infant sisters, Dorothy and Rose.
Visitation will be Friday, February 11 from 3-6 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. where members of the Regina Coeli Holy Name Society will lead a rosary at 6 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Regina Coeli Church. The committal service will be private with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps in Resurrection Cemetery.
