Barbara Ann Hofmeister

Barbara Ann Hofmeister, age 86, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 3, 1935 in Toledo, OH to Andrew and Sophie (Jajszcyk) Slachciak. A graduate of Scott High School, Barbara was employed as a secretary in the Jeep Corporation Administration Building, parish secretary at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, and office manager for Toledo Engineering for 20 years, retiring from there in 1999. She was a longtime parishioner of Regina Coeli Church, member and past president of the church’s Altar Rosary Society, and member and several time chairperson of the Church Festival Committee.  Barbara was an avid golfer and served as a marshal at Bedford and Giant Oak golf courses. She also loved gambling, playing cards with her friends, sitting in the sun, reading – especially murder mysteries, and traveling. She and her husband Richard enjoyed many vacations and cruises together over the years.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Markiecki; daughter, Michelle (Marty) Szczur; and twin sister, Mary Jane Dieter. She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Hofmeister; daughter, Kim Markiecki; son, Scott Markiecki; stepchildren, Sandy (Gary) Phillips and Steve (Joanie) Hofmeister; grandchildren, Britnye (Dan) Peake, Alyss (Brett) Grunden, Taylor Markiecki, Seth Markiecki, Melissa (Cory) Bowers, Jonathan Hofmeister, Max Hofmeister, Nick Szczur, and Ashley Szczur; great-grandchildren, Ariah, Liam, Charlotte, Mason, Asher, Abigail, Noah, and Riley; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, June 5 at Regina Coeli Church, 530 Regina Pkwy, Toledo at 11 a.m.
