Alfred “Al” Sniegowski, age 95, formerly Capistrano Ave. passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 17, 1927 in Toledo, OH to Casper “Pete” and Mary (Pivonka) Sniegowski. Al was a graduate of Libbey High School and a Veteran of the US Army. He was employed by Doehler Jarvis in the areas of design, engineering, and shipping for 42 years, retiring in 1988. After his retirement, he became a consultant for 7 years at Delaware Machinery, Muncie, IN. He was a former parishioner of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, and a current member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church where he served as an usher, a member of the Holy Name Society, a surrogate grandparent, the Parish Council, and a dedicated church festival worker for 62 years. In addition, he was an avid lifelong golfer, having begun his golf career as a caddie at Inverness. Al was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Lillian, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and friend to many. He will be dearly missed.
Al is survived by his daughter, Donna (Doug) Spohn; sons, Dale Sniegowski and Dennis (Cathy) Sniegowski; grandchildren, Nichole (Matt) Rothschild, Matt (Devon) Sniegowski, Heather (Todd) Shupp, Honi Sniegowski, Denny (Erika) Sniegowski, Alison (Jim) Link, and Alan (Elena) Spohn; and 19 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian (Pacholski) Sniegowski; and brother, Frank Snug.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 24 from 3-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., where members of the Regina Coeli Ushers and Holy Name Society will lead a Rosary at 6 p.m. Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in Regina Coeli Church at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps.
