Adele Marie Walkowski

  Adele Marie Walkowski, age 79, of Toledo passed away peacefully at 1:50 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023 at the Toledo Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born on May 6, 1943 in Toledo, OH to Edmund and Wanda (Parzewski) Gromnicki. On June 29, 1963 she married Martin “Marty” Walkowski, the love of her life for 59 years.

  Adele was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and a member of the Homecoming Court “top 5” her senior year. She was employed at Tiedtke’s Department Store downtown, and as a sales associate in the drapery department at Montgomery Ward for over 20 years, retiring in 2000. Adele always had a love and talent for makeup and hairstyling and enjoyed sharing her skills with family and friends. She was also a terrific cook who stayed true to her Polish heritage preparing traditional dishes like Kapusta, Placek, and Czarnina (duck soup). She adored and was fiercely proud of her sons and their children. Family and friends all enjoyed her clever sense of humor. She enjoyed dancing and going to the casinos with her husband Marty. She was a member of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America (PRCUA), the CWV Jude Thaddeus Post 1675 Auxiliary, and a longtime parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.

  Adele is survived by her beloved husband Marty; sons, Marty (Lori), Jeff (Amy), and Jim (Jill) Walkowski; grandchildren, Alexis (Larry) Mates, Elizabeth (Jake) Williams, Madison, James, Lainey, and David Walkowski; and brother, Edmund (Karen) Gromnicki. She was preceded in death by her parents.

  Friends and family may visit on Thursday, April 27 from 2-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., where members of the Regina Coeli Altar Rosary Society will lead a rosary at 4:30 p.m.  The Funeral Mass for Adele will be Friday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Regina Coeli Church with Rev. James Mormon presiding.
